Aston Villa closed deadline day by committing £47m to Paris Saint-Germain's 18-year-old Senegal international Ibrahim Mbaye, according to The Guardian — the 10th signing of a summer in which the club banked more than £300m from player sales. The financial logic is coldly pragmatic: six of the XI that lifted the Europa League in May have already departed, and Unai Emery's squad has been remade in their image before a ball has properly settled in the new season.
